Montrose is at 56 degrees north whilst St. John's is much further south at 47 degrees north yet is much colder year round. This demonstrates the effect of the gulf stream on the UK.

Mist is in the air, fog goes from the ground up where the difference in temperatures of the air and ground meet.

The difference between fog and mist, is how far you can see. Mist, you can see beyond 100 metres, fog is less. Simples.

Fog:- Low cloud called stratus. Restricts visibility less than 1km and can be ground fog, sea fog, hill fog. Mist on the other hand is reduced visibility like haze but you can see a lot further than fog and greater than 1km. Both are made up water particles and both can have additional pollutants.

i couldn’t find anything online so it looks like you didn’t see the Clipper in Montrose…but did see her sister the Mariner who looks similar but there’s some differences if yo7 know where to look… and kudos on catching the Black doing a port visit, the Black is a long way from its home in Jacksonville, Florida!

Been a big fan of your videos for a long time. I have revisited this one, because my partner and I are doing Birmingham to Aberdeen on the cross country in two weeks. We are very lucky though as I was given two 1st class tickets as compensation for basically abandoning me at Newport last year. Will give you a wave as we go through Montrose :)

For bolder travelers: if you are curious about something (cod jigging, fish and brewis, how to pronounce "Quidi Vidi") - just ask a local! There are exceptions, but most folks there are super friendly, and more than eager to talk about local culture. It's not just about knowledge, it will lead to new experiences. A day of fun out on the water (cod jigging.) A great traditional meal (fish and brewis.) A fun controversy (there are multiple opinions, each with their own rationale, on how to say Quidi Vidi.)

Hi Steve and Alicja. Both hubby and I got aching legs just from watching you running up and down all those steps in today's video ! Gees, you guys are both fit ! It is definitely a lovely walk ( hike). All the homes and businesses painted in such bright colours. The views , from every place you stopped to catch your breath, were quite spectacular. And that brownie....😋
